The Department of Correctional Services is seeking dedicated and reliable Driver/Messengers to join our team at the National Head Office in Pretoria. About the Role
As a Driver/Messenger, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Chief Deputy Commissioner’s office by providing transportation and clerical support services. This position is available in the following divisions:

Office of the CDC Human Resource Management and Development (Ref: HO 2025/06/02)

Office of the CDC Financial Management Services (CFO) (Ref: HO 2025/06/03)

Office of the CDC Institutional Development Management and Support (Ref: HO 2025/06/04)

Office of the CDC Remand Detention (Ref: HO 2025/06/05)
Key Responsibilities
-
Transportation Services: Safely operate light and medium motor vehicles to transport the Chief Deputy Commissioner and deliver mail and documents.

Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on assigned vehicles, report defects promptly, and complete required records and logbooks.

Clerical Support: Collect and deliver documents from the post office, distribute documents internally and externally, and maintain accurate records of official trips.

Asset Management: Manage and maintain assets related to transportation and delivery tasks.

Compliance: Adhere to government regulations for vehicle usage, trip authorities, and safe storage protocols.
Requirements
To excel in this Driver/Messenger role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ driving experience. Completion of an advanced driver’s course is an advantage.

Licensing: Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge and Skills:
-
Familiarity with procedures for operating and maintaining motor vehicles, including trip authorities, logbooks, and consumables (e.g., petrol).

Knowledge of government transport regulations and prescripts for vehicle utilization.

Understanding of the cities where duties will be performed.

Strong organizational skills, punctuality, and attention to detail.

Competencies: Integrity, confidentiality, good communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and maintain a client-oriented approach.
