Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: An appropriate recognised NQF level 4 (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification and a Basic qualification in Child Care.
- Experience: Experience in a secure care environment is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative frameworks (Children’s Act, Child Care Act, Child Justice Act).
- Good communication skills.
- Good interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to handle pressure.
- Honesty and confidentiality.
- Customer care skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Child Admission: Receive children and youth into the care facility and provide orientation.
- Child Care and Development: Ensure the needs of children and youth are met and their development is supported.
- Medical Services: Ensure children/youth receive necessary medical services.
- Programs and Activities: Facilitate independent living, recreational programs, and therapy programs.
- Family Engagement: Organise family visits and contacts.
- Escort Services: Escort children to external services as needed.
- Administration: Perform necessary administrative duties.
