Job Description

As an Artisan Production Grade A, you will apply your trade expertise (e.g., plumbing, painting, bricklaying, electrical, carpentry, diesel mechanics, or drainage structures) to produce, maintain, and repair infrastructure components. This role involves designing, producing, and quality-assuring objects, maintaining equipment, and performing administrative tasks to support Limpopo’s public infrastructure projects.


Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

  • Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in one of the following: Plumbing, Painting, Bricklaying, Electrical, Carpentry, Diesel Mechanics, or Steel & Shuttering (specific to the post applied for).

  • Experience is an added advantage for Posts 31/235 and 31/236.

Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).

Technical Competencies:

  • Technical analysis knowledge.

  • Computer-aided technical applications.

  • Knowledge of legal compliance.

  • Technical report writing.

  • Production and process knowledge and skills.

Duties

Building Infrastructure Maintenance (Post 31/234) and Drainage Structures (Post 31/236)

  • Design: Produce designs according to client specifications and production capabilities.

  • Production: Create objects using materials and equipment per job specifications and recognized standards; ensure quality assurance.

  • Maintenance: Inspect and repair equipment/facilities for technical faults, test against specifications, and service according to schedules.

  • Administrative Functions: Compile and submit reports, provide inputs for technical reports, maintain job records/registers, and adhere to development plans.

  • Supervision: Supervise and mentor staff.

  • Professional Development: Pursue continuous learning to stay updated with new technologies and procedures.

Roads Infrastructure Maintenance: Mechanical Workshop (Post 31/235)

  • Repairs:

    • Receive job cards, stabilize machines/vehicles, drain and refill oil, replace filters, and test for leaks/functionality.

    • Conduct visual inspections for additional damage (leaks, bolts, cracks), fix issues, and re-test.

  • Services:

    • Ensure safe working conditions, diagnose problems, document findings, and perform services per standards.

    • Conduct pre- and post-service inspections, compile inspection sheets, and complete job cards.

  • Pre-Inspection:

    • Dismantle, assess, repair, or replace worn parts, reassemble, clean, and test components.

  • Administrative Functions:

    • Provide inputs for technical reports, maintain job records/registers, and adhere to development plans.
