Security Officer (SL3) – Department of Health

  • Grade 12 and computer certificate
  • One year of functional experience in a hospital environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal relations, client orientation, and customer focus
  • Proficient in at least 2 official languages
  • Ability to handle and manage confidential information
  • Sufficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Be prepared to work shifts
  • Adapt to rotational changeover when necessary
  • Prospective candidates will be tested practically on computer skills
  • Ability to use PAAB or HIS systems will be an added advantage


Collect and capture data and relevant documents for registration

Follow up on outstanding information and documents

Assist with general enquiries from clients

Collect patients’ fees and manage their safety

Handle face value items, e.g., receipt books and safe keys

Be a custodian of patients’ records by managing the movement and control of files

Render customer care to clients and be sensitive to waiting time

Execute any other relevant tasks upon instruction by the supervisor and when necessary
