About the Role
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is seeking a capable, dedicated, and service-oriented individual to join its team as a Grants Administrator at the Kroonstad Local Office (Parys). This position is essential in ensuring that grant beneficiaries receive timely, accurate, and professional service in line with SASSA’s mission to provide comprehensive social security services to vulnerable citizens.
The successful candidate will play a key role in administering social grants efficiently and effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, and providing exceptional customer service to clients from diverse backgrounds.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

A relevant qualification at NQF Level 6 as recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Computer literacy is essential, as the position involves data capturing and digital processing of grant applications.

A valid driver’s license.

Prior administrative or clerical experience within a government or public service environment.

Knowledge of SASSA operations or social grant processing systems will be beneficial.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of administrative and customer service functions related to the management of social grants. These include:

Providing Grant Customer Care Services:
Assist clients with general enquiries, application processes, and grant-related information. Ensure that all customer interactions are handled professionally and empathetically. -
Screening and Capturing Applications:
Verify, capture, and process social grant applications accurately on the system, ensuring that all information provided is correct and compliant with SASSA regulations. -
Beneficiary Maintenance:
Handle updates to existing beneficiary information, including changes to personal details, banking information, or grant status. -
Administering Medical Bookings and Assessments:
Schedule and coordinate medical assessments where required for disability-related grants. Liaise with medical professionals and ensure proper record-keeping. -
Off-Site Grant Application Services:
Provide support during mobile or outreach services, assisting clients in remote or rural areas with on-site grant applications and information. -
Scanning and Batching of Grant Files:
Digitize and organize application documentation for secure storage and retrieval, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
