Education: Diploma/B Tech Degree in Diagnostic Radiography.
Registration: Current proof of registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Diagnostic Radiographer. Must have completed Community Service.
Experience:
Grade 1: None required after registration with HPCSA.
Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience in the relevant profession after registration with HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
Skills and Knowledge:
Computer literacy.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of Public Service legislation, policies, and procedures.
Experience in Digital Radiography and utilisation of computerised Radiography systems.
Excellent time management skills.
Compliance with budgeting, radiographic quality assurance, National Core standards, Safety and Infection control principles.
Ability to train and supervise students.
Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Duties:
Manage imaging procedures as requested by doctors.
Evaluate patient information and ensure accuracy.
Operate radiological equipment correctly.
Ensure adherence to radiation, health, and safety protocols.
Monitor and manage staff radiation procedures.
Conduct patient care and quality assurance.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Conduct quality control and safe-keep equipment.
Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.
Train junior staff and develop protocols for CT/MRI.
