Job Description

Motus Stellantis Vereeniging is offering an opportunity for a Level 1 Apprentice (Motor Mechanic). This role is ideal for individuals keen to train and qualify as Motor Mechanics. The apprenticeship requires participation in all aspects of the program, assisting with vehicle repairs under the supervision of a qualified Technician, and meeting the MerSETA requirements of the trade. The goal is to qualify within a maximum of 4 years.

Position Overview

The role involves:

  • Participating in all aspects of the Apprenticeship programme.
  • Assisting with vehicle repairs under a qualified Technician’s supervision.
  • Fulfilling MerSETA trade requirements.
  • Preparing thoroughly for level tests to qualify within 4 years.

Specific Role Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend scheduled technical/level training courses.
  • Assist with vehicle repairs to gain practical experience.
  • Prepare for and pass level tests within 4 years.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work area.
  • Follow workplace safety and conduct rules.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 with Pure Maths and Physical Science, each passed with a minimum mark of 50%.
  • Valid, unendorsed driver’s license.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Mechanical insight and technical skills are advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to operate manufacturer diagnostic equipment/computer.
  • Physically fit for heavy work.
  • Enjoy working with hands.
  • Comfortable in noisy environments.
  • Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Mental alertness.
  • Proficient in English communication and writing.
  • Meticulous and accurate.
  • Team player.
  • Energetic and action-oriented.
