Matric Result 2023 Announcement and Procedures

Anticipation is building among approximately one million learners eagerly awaiting the release of their matric exam results. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has recently unveiled the official matric results release schedule, providing crucial information for those who have completed their final school examinations.

The #2023NSCExams have concluded, marking the beginning of the countdown to the eagerly awaited #MatricResults. Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, is set to unveil the final National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam results on Thursday, 18 January 2024. This announcement will include pass rates for various provinces and details about the types of matric passes achieved by learners.

Matric candidates can expect to receive their results on Friday, 19 January 2024, at their respective schools or examination centers. Additionally, learners have the option to access their matric results online by registering for the service.

While many candidates will be content with their results, those who feel the need for improvement have the opportunity to apply for a matric exam re-mark or re-check starting from 19 January 2024.

Important Dates:

  • Thursday, 18 January 2024 – Ministerial Matric Exams Announcement
  • Friday, 19 January 2024 – Learners receive their results
  • Friday, 19 January 2024 – Re-mark/re-check applications

Understanding Matric Recheck and Remark:

A matric recheck involves a thorough review of the exam script to confirm accurate marking and calculation of marks. On the other hand, a matric remark allows candidates to request a re-evaluation of their original answer script by a different marker if they believe their assigned marks do not align with their actual performance.

How to Apply for a Matric Remark/Recheck:

Candidates can obtain application forms from the examination center or opt for an online application through the following steps:

  1. Visit the Government’s Official e-Services Portal.
  2. Click on the education icon (graduation cap).
  3. Select the Basic Education option, leading to various choices.
  4. Choose Re-Mark/Recheck.
  5. Fill out all required fields in the online application, ensuring accuracy.
  6. Once satisfied with the information, accept the terms and conditions by checking the designated box (√).

Minister Motshekga has cautioned candidates against disruptive behavior at post-exam celebrations, known as “pens down parties.” Emphasizing the need for support from parents, communities, and caregivers, the minister aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students during this celebratory period.
