Job Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic Cashier to join our team at Canal Walk. The role involves operating cash registers, accurately processing transactions, and ensuring customer satisfaction by providing exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service:
    • Provide excellent customer service, creating a “WOW” experience for customers.
    • Attend to individual shopping needs and prioritize customer satisfaction.
    • Adhere to customer service standards for prompt and efficient assistance.
  • Sales:
    • Engage in selling products and focus on add-on sales and services at the point of sale (POS).
    • Maximize sales across all areas while maintaining a high standard of customer care.
  • Cash Handling:
    • Operate cash registers and process payments for purchases.
    • Ensure the correct pricing and display of goods at POS.
    • Prepare for the start of the day and follow company standard operating procedures during all transactions.
  • Merchandising and Maintenance:
    • Adhere to all merchandising, housekeeping standards, and schedules.
    • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of advertised sales promotions.
    • Participate in stock takes, minimize stock loss, and report discrepancies to management.
  • General Duties:
    • Undertake relevant tasks as required by senior management.
    • Maintain the strict confidentiality of all information.
    • Co-operate fully in the introduction of new technology and methods.
    • Take responsibility for personal development and remain up to date with current standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Sales-driven attitude with a focus on maximizing customer purchases.
  • Basic numeracy skills.
  • Effective time management.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work in shifts.

Entry Requirements

  • Matric Certificate.
  • At least six months of retail experience.
  • Reliable transport to work shifts.
