Bayworld Museum in Gqeberha is looking for a dedicated and organized Storekeeper to join our Oceanarium team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your role will be vital to the smooth operation of our animal life support systems, ensuring the well-being of marine life housed at our facility. If you are detail-oriented, have excellent organizational skills, and are passionate about marine conservation, this might be the perfect role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Storekeeper, your duties will include:

  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of stock levels and goods received.
  • Stock Management: Assist with the supply and management of goods and services necessary to maintain animal support systems.
  • Safekeeping of Goods: Ensure proper storage and safekeeping of supplies, especially those critical to marine life support.
  • Stocktaking: Conduct regular stocktaking of fish and other marine animal supplies.
  • Goods Handling: Unload supplies, check goods against orders, and track the movement of items dispensed from the storeroom.
  • Report Submission: Compile and submit reports on stock levels, shortages, and movements.
  • Marine Animal Husbandry: Assist with the care and maintenance of marine animals housed in the Oceanarium and Aquarium.
  • Animal Rehabilitation: Support marine animal rehabilitation efforts.
  • Marine Conservation Support: Assist in achieving the museum’s marine conservation objectives.
  • Flexible Working Hours: Ability to work weekends as needed.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: National Senior Certificate or NQF level 4.
  • Computer Literacy: Must be proficient in basic computer operations.
  • Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience: No work experience required, but previous exposure to working with live marine mammals will be considered an advantage.
